We are delighted to announce the launch of the Anglepoise TypeC™ task light in Milan this April. It is the first in a new generation of products that fuse our innovative system of balance with the latest LED technology. It is a strikingly seductive design that blends a range of high quality materials including glass, anodized aluminum and stainless steel.
The light has been designed by Kenneth Grange, our Design Director, in the year that he is celebrated in a five-decade retrospective exhibition at the London Design Museum entitled ‘Kenneth Grange: Making Britain Modern’. Primarily engineered as a task light for the specification market, the product features touch sensitive dimming and light level memory.
A significant part of the design consideration was to build sustainability into the product. This has been achieved by providing an interchangeable head and driver unit so they can be upgraded or replaced at any time. Anglepoise has followed this philosophy for the last 75 years, which is why so many of our products are still functioning today.

The original company began in 1855 and 72 years ago George Carwardine, a car suspension engineer invented the desk light that utilized an ingenious system of balance using springs and the Anglepoise was born. It has since become widely viewed as an example of timeless British design. With the involvement of the founder’s great great grandson, Simon Terry, and Industrial Designer Kenneth Grange the company has evolved to become a design driven business.
