Autumn Inspiration - Blue is the colour

I love blue. Ranging in tone from deepest ink to coolest ice, it works across seasons and interior styles and what’s more, it is at its best in the northern hemisphere where the colder light actually enhances the blue pigment. So right now I have every reason to be cheerful. Yes indeed, where fashion led interiors have followed and blue is trending.

This current fashionability owes much to the work of paint companies such as Little Greene, whose latest collection is a celebration of blue in all its many guises. There’s the cool, sharp, contemporary side of blue, for example, which in this scheme is given gravitas by that deep indigo skirting board (Dock Blue). The scattering of white accents pieces, including the Anglepoise® Type 75™ Floor Lamp in Jasmine White, keeps the room looking fresh.

Then there’s the brooding, smoky sort of blue which is both elegant and soothing. Grey-hued blues are extremely chic used on their own, (particularly if you add in a few metal notes such as the Anglepoise® Original 1227™ Brass Wall light in Elephant Grey), but, as this room set shows, they also work well mixed with cleaner, truer blues.

And then finally, there’s the ever popular light, seasidey face of blue – a welcome breath of summer as winter sets in. Boating accessories are optional, but the pendant light (Anglepoise® Type 75™ Maxi Pendant in Alpine White) is a very fine idea.
