What fun to have a permanent base in a central London food and drink destination (one co-established by Sir Terence Conran, no less) in the heart of the Clerkenwell design district? Well that’s exactly what has happened to the Anglepoise London Studio. Just over a month ago in May, we packed our bags at or co-working space in Second Home and moved lock, stock and barrel into this iconic Turnmills site, now home to British themed London eatery, Albion Clerkenwell.
To mark Hull UK City of Culture 2017, G. F. Smith resolved to find the World’s Favourite Colour, voted by the public. An extensive survey spanning more than 100 countries was conducted and many thousands of votes were recorded.

Rosa Park and Rich Stapleton are work and life partners who founded the cult bi-annual lifestyle magazine Cereal in 2012. Since then they have amassed a global following thanks to their knack for combining thoughtful words, beautiful imagery and pared back graphic design to striking effect.
No ordinary call of duty: to have your back licked, your front pressed, and spend the rest of your days confined to the corner (all this as the queen watches on). It’s a funny sort of tribute. Fifty years have now passed since the Royal Mail first went to print with its Special Stamps program ...
In the grown-up, inky-blue space reserved for customer fittings in Joseph Cheaney & Sons’ new flagship store in London, hang the portraits of the founders. It’s no mere space filler. The canvasses are here for a reason. Perhaps to keep watch, or maybe just serve reminder; a clear sign of the shoemakers’ desire to give heritage a leading role as it bids to write new chapters in a history spanning over a hundred and twenty years.

Winter: dark in the morning, dark in the afternoon and on some days, never properly light at all. No wonder we reach for the fairy lights to brighten the gloom. So in an effort to banish the winter blues, add some seasonal notes and solve your present dilemmas all in one, stylish, swoop, I have compiled a list of must-have lamps guaranteed to light up your winters ...
We’ve all seen it. Two lamps spring to life. In rolls a ball. Back and forth it goes until the smaller of the two gets a touch carried away. POP. Game over. Off slinks the humble little lamp, safe from the gaze of its disapproving senior.
You’d have to have been living in a vacuum over the past few months to be unaware of the 150th years anniversary celebrations of ‘the nation’s favourite high-street store’. The story of how a tiny drapers shop was transformed into a high street institution is just the sort of rags to riches story us Brits love best. Anyone living within striking distance of one of John Lewis’ 42 nationwide stores understandably might struggle to keep count of the endless John Lewis purchases they’ve made over the years.
When British brand, London Undercover approached us last month to ask if they could feature Anglepoise® as guest brand of the month, of course we said yes. Established in 2008 by designer Jamie Milestone, London Undercover has been on our radar for some time. We love the way they’ve brought the humble umbrella to life, inspiring us Brits to enjoy and take pride in what must surely be our most indispensable, everyday British accessory.
We always get a bit of a rush when we spot our lamps in a stylish interior, or when they’re being used by someone we admire. So when we discovered that influential art director and graphic designer, Veronica Ditting was an Anglepoise fan, we felt we had to ask her some questions:

It was a tiny feature in a 1996 edition of the Guardian Weekend Magazine that initiated our longstanding and on-going collaboration with pre-eminent British product designer, Kenneth Grange. Then head of the panel for the 1996 Design Awards, Guardian’s Style Insider recalls that when Grange had been asked to identify his favourite object he came up with a raft of ideas. When pressed to pick just one, Grange eventually narrowed the list down to the Anglepoise® lamp, in his opinion “a minor miracle of balance”.
