Founded by Scottish entrepreneur Charlie MacGregor in 2012, The Student Hotel Group heralds a new concept in hotel living, where leisure and business travelers and students share spaces to connect and inspire one another. Currently numbering eight sites across the Netherlands, France and Spain, with designs on 40 properties in key European cities by 2020, the hotels combine high-end facilities with high quality student, short-stay and long-stay accommodation. The Amsterdam city flagship, which opened its doors in April 2016, for example, boasts an onsite restaurant and bar, gym, classrooms, a common area with TED talk booths and games rooms, a library, university classrooms which sit alongside business meeting rooms and an underground bicycle facility available to both guests and the local community. The boutique-style rooms, (571 in Amsterdam City), are modern, stylish and spacious with big comfy beds, a dedicated personal study space lit by Original 1227 or Type 75 Mini desk lamps and bedside lighting (Type 75 Mini with a wall bracket), coffee machines, toiletries and lots of information about upcoming events arranged by the hotel to bring guests and students together.
Student accommodation never looked quite so good.
