Our Type 75 Giant grows to titanic proportions for American Express

Whether you’ve been out and about on the London Underground or InterCity rail networks this Autumn, traveling in your car, or simply relaxing in front of TV now the nights are drawing in, you’re likely to have spotted the American Express® Preferred Rewards Gold Credit Card advertising campaign, created for the brand by advertising Agency Ogilvy UK.

We see a city central street scene bedecked with giant floor lamps, massive speakers, and a pair of oversized headphones dangling idly from a crane and a pair of shoppers, hail a plane in the street – all this thanks to an early morning shoot in Canary Wharf and the wizardry of CGI director and photographer Andy Glass.

If you’re wondering who makes those upsized Giant lamps? They’re an Anglepoise design. Launched in 2016, and at three times the scale of Sir Kenneth Grange’s classic Type 75 desk lamp, the Anglepoise Type 75 Giant floor lamp is a striking modernist alternative to the Original 1227 Giant lamp launched more than a decade ago. Featuring precision machined components, rotating shade and with a maximum reach from base to shade of 270cm, this is a statement piece that is as functional as it is striking … though perhaps a tad smaller than we see in that American Express street scene!

The beauty of Sir Kenneth’s design is that its modernist streamlined design works well in sizes ranging from Giant to Mini and are available as table lights, floor lights, wall lights and as ceiling lights. So, whether you’re living in a micro home or a mansion there’s a Type 75 lamp to suit. For more information on this flexible collection, click here.
