In mid-September, we joined our long-standing French dealer, Nedgis, in Paris for a day dedicated to Anglepoise, bringing together 24 guests from the French architecture and design community for a closer look at the story, craftsmanship and engineering behind our lamps.
Hosted in the beautiful Nedgis space, the day was split across two hands-on workshop sessions. Simon Terry, Anglepoise Brand Custodian and fifth-generation owner, joined our sales team to share the story of Anglepoise, from our engineering heritage and iconic collections to some of our latest designs.
Then it was time to put that knowledge into practice.
Each guest was invited to assemble their own Original 1227 Mini Desk Lamp, getting a first-hand look at the components and engineering that bring an Anglepoise lamp to life.
Building the lamp offered a particularly good opportunity to explore our famous spring mechanism, the innovation at the heart of the Anglepoise story. It also demonstrated something equally important: how an Anglepoise lamp can be maintained, repaired and kept in use for years to come.
As Simon often says, “Show, don’t tell.”

Taking a lamp apart and putting it together again makes that philosophy tangible. Rather than simply talking about durability and repairability, our guests could see how the individual parts work together and understand why these principles have remained so important to Anglepoise.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for their curiosity, concentration and enthusiasm throughout the day, and to Nedgis for welcoming us into their space and helping make the workshops possible.

Best of all, everyone left with the Original 1227 Mini they had assembled themselves. We hope each one has now found its place in a new interior somewhere in Paris and beyond, ready to illuminate its next chapter.
