La maison du Murier
Situated in the Hautes-Alpes, France, la Maison du Mûrier (Mulberry House) is an 17th century farmhouse restored with contemporary features. In search of the perfect antidote to their busy life in London, British Japanese couple Jason & Keiko have spent 12 years renovating it.
It was once a barn that kept sheep with a farmhouse above it and even a small chapel to its side, but lay derelict for decades. Following the collapse of a part of the building back in 2009, the house was reconstructed saving whatever possible of its original features but also introducing contemporary elements.
Inside the house you will find design classics and collectables by the likes of Jean Prouvé, Charles & Ray Eames, Hans Wegner. The Anglepoise Type 75 Desk lamp by Kenneth Grange & Margaret Howell is a welcome addition to its surrounding.
The house is open to bookings for rentals on La Maison du Mûrier (lamaisondumurier.com)
