First conceived in the 1940s as a specialist adaptation of the iconic Original 1227 design, it was developed for a very specific purpose: illuminating navigators’ chart tables aboard long-range maritime patrol aircraft.
Now, more than eighty years later, this forgotten chapter of Anglepoise history returns.
Faithfully re-engineered for contemporary life, the Original 315 Desk Lamp – Navigation Edition retains the purposeful character of the original project while being adapted for today’s desks, studios and creative spaces. Its distinctive form pairs a polished aluminium shade with matte black components, creating a quieter, more understated presence than its celebrated predecessor.
The lamp has also been designed as a companion to the creative process.
