Anglepoise is pleased to introduce the latest addition to the Type 80 family: the new Type 80 T1 Table Lamp.
Designed by Sir Kenneth Grange, one of Britain’s most influential industrial designers, the Type 80 collection is known for its clean, contemporary aesthetic and distinctive graphic profile. Defined by its elegant conical shade and signature ‘halo’ light-escape feature, the collection combines practical task lighting with a warm, atmospheric glow.
The new T1 Table Lamp builds on these defining characteristics while introducing a more compact and versatile form.
An evolution of the original Type 80 Desk Lamp, the T1 has been thoughtfully refined to suit modern living and working spaces. While the original design featured a wider format and dual-joint mechanism, the new lamp simplifies the structure with a single sprung joint, creating a more streamlined silhouette that occupies less space without compromising functionality.
The result is a lamp that sits comfortably on a desk, bedside table or shelf, while retaining the flexibility and precision expected from an Anglepoise design. The single joint still allows a broad range of movement, enabling the light to be directed exactly where it is needed for focused tasks, or adjusted to illuminate a wall or surrounding space for a softer ambient effect.
Its compact proportions make it particularly well suited to smaller interiors and contemporary workspaces, while its simple form allows it to work beautifully in pairs, especially as bedside lighting.
Like the wider Type 80 collection, the T1 Table Lamp showcases a carefully considered mix of materials. An aluminium shade, an anodised machined joint, steel arms and steel base combine durability with a refined, architectural appearance. Finished in matte paint with precision-engineered details, every element reflects Sir Kenneth Grange’s commitment to purposeful design.
The lamp will be available in the collection’s established colour palette of Matte Black and Grey Mist, alongside the introduction of Pale Putty. This new soft neutral finish offers a warm, understated aesthetic and is available with either the classic metal shade or an opal glass shade, which diffuses light more gently and enhances the lamp’s ambient qualities.
Visitors to 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen will be among the first to experience the new Type 80 T1 Table Lamp in person as part of our exhibition. We look forward to sharing this latest addition to the collection with you.
