International Day of Light is an annual celebration on the anniversary of the first successful operation of the laser in 1960 by physicist and engineer, Theodore Maiman. It’s also a welcomed reminder about the significant role light plays in science, art, medicine, communications, and energy. Because, after all, Earth would be a cold and empty place without light.
